Drone timelapse
Drone timelapse and drone hyperlapse
Timelapse from the air: programmed, repeatable drone moves flown with the Inspire 3 and Mavic. We have been shooting drone timelapse since 2014.
Drone timelapse in Cornwall and the UK
Tim Boydell has shot drone timelapse in Cornwall since 2014. Today we fly programmed, repeatable moves with the DJI Inspire 3 and Mavic for commercials, TV, brands and events across Cornwall, Devon, the UK and abroad, in RAW, HDR or JPEG.
Flying a timelapse
Back in 2014 we adapted drone remote controllers to crawl speed to fly our first drone timelapses. Today the Inspire 3 and Mavic can fly pre-planned, repeatable moves, so the drone holds a slow, precise path while the camera shoots.
Since 2014
Drone timelapse since 2014, first with modified controllers.
Repeatable moves
Pre-planned flight paths that can be flown again.
Inspire 3 and Mavic
Netflix-approved Inspire 3 for full-frame 8K, Mavic for speed.
Flown by our crew
Planned, permitted and flown by our own pilots.

Limits
Flight time and wind
The two things that shape a drone timelapse are how long the drone can stay up and how much wind there is.
- Moves planned to fit the flight time of each battery
- Wind limits checked before and during the flight
- Every flight risk-assessed and planned, as on all our drone jobs
Finish and formats
Cinematic or fast turnaround
RAW and HDR
For a high-end, graded cinematic finish.
JPEG
For fast turnaround, such as events and social.
Anamorphic
We can run anamorphic lenses on the rigs.
Shutter drag
Our own filtration sets let us drag the shutter, smoothing motion and cutting stutter and other artefacts.

Good to know
What is a drone timelapse? A timelapse shot from a drone flying a slow, programmed path, so the shot moves through the air as time speeds up.
How long can a drone timelapse be? It depends on flight time and wind. We plan each move to fit within a battery and the conditions on the day.
Which drones do you use? The DJI Inspire 3 and the Mavic, flying pre-planned, repeatable moves.
Do you shoot RAW? Yes. Every timelapse can be shot in RAW, HDR or JPEG: RAW and HDR for a high-end cinematic finish, JPEG for fast turnaround such as events.
Where do you work? We're based in Newquay, Cornwall, and work across Cornwall, Devon, the rest of the UK and abroad.
