Boardmasters 2020 headliner reveal by Light Colour Sound
Here’s some of our recent work with the team at Boardmasters. We created a concept to reveal their 2020 headliners. We scripted a short film that showed three surfboards being shaped, sprayed and surfed by the Boardmasters ambassadors. All of which had the names of the three headliners on them.
Working with the UK’s leading surfboard manufacturer Toy Factory Surfboards we created three stunning surfboards as the hero’s of the project.
We wanted to keep the theme of the shoot surf related matching the history and current association the festival has with surfing. While keeping inline with the Boardmasters brand guidlines.
From a filmmakeing perspective, we focused on details throughout to keep the names of the headliners hidden without compromising the shots. Backlighting many of the internal shots allowed us to silhouette the craftsmen and focus on certain aspects.
The change to the surf setting and the addition of the drone footage allows us create a change in pace and feel. Lifting the film to the reveal point. We created an original composition with our in house composer Boyde to allow the music to perfectly match the change in pace building to the finally.
The three headliners were Skepta, Kings Of Leon and The 1975.
